Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Alpho app. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. Please read the sections on subscriptions and on what Alpho is not.
Your account
You need an account to use Alpho, and you're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use Alpho only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. Provide accurate information, and let us know at help@alpho.app if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
Subscriptions and billing
- Alpho is a paid subscription: $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year, each starting with a 7-day free trial.
- Prices are in U.S. dollars and may differ by region based on App Store pricing.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the end of the free trial, and then at the start of each renewal period.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancel any time in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- If you cancel during the free trial, you won't be charged. Starting a paid subscription before the trial ends forfeits the remainder of the trial.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's policies, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- We may change prices. Existing subscribers will be notified before any change takes effect, and you can cancel if you don't want to continue.
What Alpho is not
Alpho is a devotional aid, not professional care. Nothing in the app is medical advice, mental health treatment, legal advice, or a substitute for the pastoral guidance of your own priest, pastor, or spiritual director.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to a person now. In the United States you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any hour of the day. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Content in the app
Scripture in Alpho comes from public-domain translations. The saints' stories are written from primary and scholarly sources and reviewed before publication. Some elements — such as daily reflections and prayers written for your specific situation — are generated with AI assistance and may occasionally contain errors or wording we wouldn't have chosen.
Alpho is not a magisterial or doctrinal authority. Where a devotional point matters to you, take it to your own tradition and your own clergy. If you spot something inaccurate, please tell us at help@alpho.app — we'd rather know.
Your content
What you write in Alpho remains yours. To operate the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you — for example, sending a struggle you submit to our AI provider so that Scripture, a prayer, and a reflection can be generated for your situation. This licence exists only to run Alpho; we do not use your writing for advertising, and we do not sell it.
By posting a prayer to the community wall, you additionally grant us permission to display it anonymously within the app to other users. You can ask us to remove a specific post at any time.
How your writing is handled, including which providers process it, is described in our Privacy Policy.
Community guidelines
The prayer wall is a place for sincere prayer. When posting, don't:
- Harass, demean, or attack anyone, including other traditions;
- Post sexual content, violence, spam, advertising, or solicitations;
- Share another person's private information;
- Impersonate anyone, including clergy;
- Use the wall to sell, recruit, or promote.
We may remove posts and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to breach or probe the app's security, reverse-engineer it, scrape its content, resell access, or use it to build a competing product. Don't use automated tools to submit content at volume.
Our rights
Alpho, its name, logo, design, written content, and compiled saint library are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app; it does not transfer ownership of anything in it.
Availability
We work to keep Alpho running well, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or remove parts of the app over time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
Alpho is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Alpho is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll update the date above and notify you in the app. Continuing to use Alpho after a change means you accept the revised terms.
