Terms of Service

Welcome to Alpho. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Alpho ("we," "us") governing your use of the Alpho mobile application and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who may use Alpho

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Keep your password secure and notify us at help@alpho.app if you suspect unauthorized access. You may delete your account at any time in the app or by emailing us.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Alpho Premium is an auto-renewing subscription of $1.99 per month (plus applicable taxes) with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Billing is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID:

Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the free trial ends, and monthly thereafter, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's subscription settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
Prices may change; if they do for your subscription, you will be notified as required and may cancel before the change takes effect.

4. What Alpho is — and is not

Alpho provides devotional content: Scripture, prayers, sayings and stories of the saints, and reflective guidance, including responses generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence. This content is offered for spiritual encouragement and education. It is not professional advice of any kind — it is not medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for the counsel of your priest, pastor, physician, or a licensed professional. If you are in crisis or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a crisis line immediately.

AI-assisted responses are generated automatically and, while we work to keep them faithful and accurate, they may contain errors. Scripture quotations are drawn from public-domain translations.

5. Community guidelines

The community prayer wall exists so people can pray for one another. When you post, you agree not to submit content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, deceptive, unlawful, or that identifies another person without their consent. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these guidelines. Prayer requests are displayed anonymously, but you remain responsible for what you post.

6. Your content and our license

You retain ownership of the content you create in the Service (such as struggles, journal entries, and prayer requests). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service — for example, to generate your guidance or show your anonymous prayer request to the community. We do not sell your content.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service — including the Alpho name, logo, design, and original content — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the Service except as permitted by law.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service — including attempting to access it by any means other than the interfaces we provide, probing or disrupting our systems, scraping content at scale, or using the Service to develop a competing product.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 6–12) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
